My New Toy - Ford Mustang!!!

After six months here in USA... I finally got my driver's license two weeks ago! Without much time wasted, I was out and about looking for my car... and last Sunday, I finally found it! My Ford Mustang!

My Mustang
Drum roll.... tada!

For those into details... this is a 96 Ford Mustang with about 119 000 miles on it. It's a blue coupe (as you can see from the pictures), with a manual transmission, V6 3.8L engine (quite sweet!). Did I mention that I only first drove a stick-shift car on that day I test drove it? (well I did take a Land Rover out for a short 5 mins drive, way back when I was in army!). I have to thank the previous owner Sabrina for her great coaching skills!

My Mustang 2
Sweet two-seater...

Couldn't quite imagine how I can own a car... this is amazing... I would never be able to afford that in Singapore! Did I mention this car is cheaper than my first motorcycle back home? ...And the motorcycle was only a 150cc Honda Phantom!

My Mustang 3
From a sleek angle...

Now that I am moving to a basement apartment... which is sort of like a studio apartment... I have to say that materialistically... I've about got all that I want. This is quite an experience... I'll really hate to start all over again when I get back... but family and friends are also important in life! (plus good food!)

My Mustang 4
From the back...

Being on my own most of the time... I guess my only passenger for a while will be this cute teddy near my gear stick... (got it from McDonald's Happy Meal!) Now, I can consider myself really settled down and it's time to resume my travelling plans again! This is so cool!

And I Love You So... In My Own Way?

Happy Mother's Week!

A strangely reflective week… I was in such a creative mood… if only I had my hands on my guitar! This is also one lonely Mother’s Day for me (why the heck would I feel lonely? I am not a mother?!)… I guess I missed my mom, my god-mom and her wonderful food… They are two very important people in my life…

I remember when I was a child, my god-mom taught me to sing… taught me to take a bus on my own… taught me to appreciate life… I couldn’t even describe how much she means to me! Of course, words can't describe my relationship with my mom too! I love it when my mom is so supportive! (instead of nagging!)

Also... I finally quitted my biker-dude ways and got myself a car license! After all these months of waiting… what it took were 4-5 turns around the block in my manager’s automatic transmission Honda Accord and I got my license! Didn’t even need to park my car! I guess I’ll be doing a lot of car shopping the next week… maybe I can get a ‘sillycar’ (Celica) or some other old coupe (like a BMW =P) or convertible and enjoy my driving days while I can. (Don’t foresee myself driving much in Singapore, so I might as well do it here cheaply while I can!)

Confidence...

自从那一天起我自己做决定...
自从那一天起不轻易接受谁的邀请...
自从那一天起听我说的道理...

自从那一天起我自己做决定...
自从那一天起不在意谁的否定...
自从那一天起听我说的道理...

Music That Touch My Heart...

I wish to...
hold a guitar...
play a simple tune...
tell a story...
and let the music travel... through your ears... to your heart

I wish to...
sing to your heart...
and give it warmth

Woodley Zoo Revisited

Went to the Woodley Zoo again to check out the places that I missed the last time. I missed the Invetebrate House and the Amazonian House the last time due to me coming late in the afternoon... I could never wake up early in the morning! I really wanted to come back again because I realised that there is a giant octopus in the Invetebrate House!

This time... I was probably worse than before... I reached the zoo at 4pm when the zoo closes at 5.30pm! The good thing is... I probably missed the whole bulk of kids roaming around (there are still a lot of kids running around though!)

Woodley Zoo
Zoo Entrance...

I headed straight for the Invetebrate House immediately and was rewarded with the sight of the 'Giant' Octopus. Apparently 'Giant' is a relative term...

Giant Octupus
Is this giant octupus human size?!!

Giant Octopus
Apparently it is 3x the length of a human's hand...

Actually saw a very nice exhibit of luminous jelly fishes. Sadly, my camera went flat on me while I was captuing the clip, resulting in my zoom lenses being unable to retract. The camera got stuck in that position till I got home...

The Amazonian House was much more interesting... it had some really huge fishes there! Those Arapaimas are really quite amazingly gigantic! Sadly, my broken camera did not do them justice. Piranhas are nowhere to be found though...

I was also in time for the closing feeding time for the California seals.. they were so cute!

Despite the short time spent there, I really enjoyed looking at those animals... I can only wish that I had brought some extra batteries. I guess I'll be back again one of these days!

Cluster of Four Cubes

Uploaded this clip i took a while back in the Sulpture Garden of the National Gallery of Art, DC. The cubes move independent of each other, seemingly move on their own without aid! Really interesting art...

Cluster of Four Cubes - George Rickey

Check out the information given on the main National Gallery of Art website.

George Rickey began to produce kinetic sculpture in the late
1940s. Intrigued by both the history of constructivist art and by the example of
Calder's mobiles, he developed systems of motion that made his works respond to
the slightest variations in the flow of air currents. Rickey's kinetic sculpture
provides a dialogue between ordered geometric shapes and random motion.

The massive element of Cluster of Four Cubes is appended by ball bearings to slender
arms that branch from a central post. Each cube is precisely weighted and
balanced, engineered to turn effortlessly in the lightest breeze; they glide,
nearly brushing one another in an intricate and graceful dance that belies their
apparent bulk

I Want To Be A Duck!

Actually captured this clip of a duck in a fountain outside the Ronald Reagan Building. Notice the front door of the trade center where people rushed in and out in the background! …

Sometimes, we get so caught up in our life that every problem seemed too big. However, the world still moves at the same pace, time always tick at the same rate, the day will pass and the night will come and then the day will come again…

Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at our lives… how do we want to live it? … I want to touch the lives of my closest in my own unique way~

Cute little duck here!
